Amazing Miriam

As I watch this little girl grow everyday, I see more and more what an incredible, amazing little person she is. I am blessed beyond words to have been given the honor of being her mother. Here are a few recent Miriam stories.
Their first argument
Miriam and her daddy had their first argument. It started out innocently. She was reading her new Baby Animal magazine (gift from Mimmie) and looking at a story about a river otter. Excitedly she showed Daddy and said "Puppy!" "No, Miriam that's an otter", he replied. "Puppy!", she said again more forcefully. "Otter", was the reply. "Puppy!!" "Otter!" "Puppy!!!" "Otter!!" "PUPPY!" "Otter!!!" "PUPPY!!!!" "OTTER!" ..... "Kitty?" "No, Miriam, it's an otter." Five minutes later, Miriam showed him the picture again and said with a tone of resignation, "O'er". "Yes, Miriam, it's an otter!"
The new man in her life
Miriam has a new man in her life. Well, I don't know if you can really call him a man. Ever since Christmas at Grandma's house, she has been OBSESSED with snowmen. She can spot a snowman a mile away on anything... book, holiday flag, window art... wherever he is she will see him. I decided to give in to her obsession and checked out three books about snowmen from the library. Now she wants to read them constantly and will talk about "snowman, snowman" nonstop for 5 minutes. It has gotten so bad that Brian refers to the snowman as "He-who-must-not-be-named"! I wish it would snow so I could take this kid out to build a REAL snowman.
The next diva
Now we've known for sometime that Miriam loves music. She loves to listen to it, dance to it, and play all her little instruments. We've known she picks up little tunes quickly for awhile now. Two nights ago while I was singing Amazing Grace to her as I occasionally do, she tried to sing along. She had some of the melody and an attempt at words. Tonight, she sang "AAAAhmaaa Gacc ow sweet duh souwn" in perfect pitch. She continued to nail the melody and a few other words for the rest of the first verse. This child never stops amazing me!

Adorable

I just found your blog. We have just recently sent our dossier to Addis so we're in for the wait for our daughter. Miriam is adorable and your stories are inspiring. It makes the wait go by just a little easier. Thanks!
