Baby fun

Can I just say Miriam is getting to be so much fun! Now that she can sit really well, she is much happier to play while I try to get a few things done around the house. I know I know... you're thinking housework can wait... babies grow up... I know this is true but I happen to be one of those people who are emotionally upset by a cluttered and dirty house so getting a little done makes me feel much better about myself and life in general!
Anyway, Miriam is now able to play and thus is becoming so fun. I really like this age. Right now as I type she is jumping in her Jumperoo playing with the toy and "talking" to them (and me). I was a mean mommy and made her spend about 10 minutes in tummy time today... think crying baby. Someday, she might learn to crawl if I can get her to do something besides scream on her tummy! I have also learned to do quite a few things with Miriam in the sling on my hip, but my back does get tired a few hours. I'm still trying to learn now to get her on my back in the slings.. while scares Brian out of his mind! (I promise I won't drop her Honey!) Better go play with the baby for a bit more before supper time.

Expediting Ethiopian adoption

I'd love to talk to you about your positive adoption experience. My husband and I were Peace Corps volunteers in Ethiopia and now have a factory in Addis Ababa and support a primary school there. We are going again tomorrow to check on both and will be meeting with the prime minister. I'm going to bring up the topic of expediting Ethiopian adoption as you know how many orphans there are and only 247 were adopted last year. So many could benefit--especially the kids--if we could figure out some ways to simplify and expedite the process. What do you think? You seem to have had a good experience and, obviously, Miriam is gorgeous. I've never seen such chubby cheeks on an Ethiopian baby before? You just want to pinch them! I'm so glad she has such a lovely Ethiopian/American name. God bless you and your adorable daughter!
