Doctor's Visits

Well, we have been to see our Doctor four times now and have to go back AGAIN tomorow. Miriam was found to have a urinary tract infection (UTI) on her first visit after we returned home. She had no symptoms so we had no idea.
After 3 trips to the Doctor, a painful catheter to get a "clean" sample of her urine, and two different antibotics, we were there yesterday to check to see if the UTI was gone after all this treatment. Today we were called and told that the urine had "stuff growing in it" still. So we have to go back to have another catheter urine sample obtained. It that is still positive for infection it will mean more medication! :-( The medication has been very hard on Miriam's system.
Our doctor wants to run a number of tests on Miriam to see why she has a UTI so young. One of the tests is very invasive and involves multipul X-rays and MORE catheters. After much thought we finally decided to go ahead and run all the tests, they are scheduled for Jan 17th. If she is found to have urinary reflux (what they are testing for), the treatment is to give an antibotic everyday and repeat the invasive test each year until she out grows the reflux. I am NOT happy about the tests due to the high exposure to radiation and the pain for Miriam, and I do NOT want to give her antibotics everyday. I fear for what that will do to her young system.
I feel as if we are in some cycle that we just can't get out of... invasive tests followed by drugs that are hard on her little body. This is one part of being a parent I find very difficult.

uti infections
