So this AM we took the children to have their medical examinations for their US visas. We made quite a sight walking down the street at 9 AM today! As always, we turned a few heads! :) Once at the medical clinic, they did weight (22 pounds with clothing on), height, and temp. A doctor did a quick look over and listened to her heart & lungs, then the ENT doctor looked at her. Ears- clear, hearing- good, mouth.... she looked at Katie's mouth, she looked at the paperwork, she looked at Katie's mouth again, and then looked at the paperwork again. THEN she looks at me and said, "She does not have cleft palate. She has cleft gum." Thank you. That's exactly what I thought I saw in there!

I have been perusing your back posts and had to comment on this particular post! When we were referred our daughter, we were told she had congenital cleft lip and palate with the lip having been repaired. In going over some of the paperwork, it was not quite clear if she actually had a cleft palate. The day she was handed to us, my husband was playing with her and tossed her up in the air causing to laugh out loud! It was then, that we found out she did not have a cleft palate, just a notch in her gumline! Yea! Even though we were prepared to have the numerous surgeries, we were thrilled to find that alot of them were not going to be necessary. In fact, I would be very hard pressed to consider my daughter "special needs". She is a healthy, happy, ornery little 3 year old and we couldn't be happier.
Anyways, long note, just your post reminded me of our story! Take care!
