The Adventures of Snoopy

I've been meaning to write this since we got back from vacation at Mimmi's.  As I mentioned in the Adventures of Daddy, Snoopy had his own little adventure while we were gone!  It all started the first Saturday.  Brian was feeling sorry for Snoopy who had been home all alone the day before (his first mistake... never feel sorry for that dog!).  So he took him along on the shopping trip to Wal-Mart (second mistake!)  However, it was a warm day, so like a good pet owner, Brian left the windows open for air (third mistake was underestimating Snoopy's ability to get through small openings.).  Well, you've guessed what happened by now... yup, Snoopy jumped out of the car and was gone when Brian returned. And this is where the story gets interesting....

DSCF1125_lg.jpgOnce he saw Snoopy was gone, Brian started calling for him.  This attracted the attention of the cart boy who came over and asked if Brian had lost his dog.  On hearing the answer, the cart boy told an interesting story.  He said a dog had been running around the parking lot and he had caught him.  The cart boy was headed into the store to page overhead to see if anyone had lost their dog.  But as he headed towards the door, an older man approached and said , "Hey, that's my dog!"  Not knowing any better, the boy turned the dog over to him and the man left.  However, something didn't feel right to the cart boy and he tried to memorize the license plate number.  After hearing this story, Brian called the police who came and made a report.  Long story short, none of the kid's info led anywhere--the plate number was a dead end and they could find nothing on the Wal-Mart video camera!

Brian was really upset and angry at himself, but he did everything he could over the next few days.  He placed newspaper ads, called all the vets, used pet-finding websites, and posted flyers.  On Thursday evening at 9 PM he got a call... "are you looking for Snoopy?" Everything sounded like Snoopy so Brian went out into hicksville way up the mountain at 10 at night.  Yeah, he was a little scared!  And there was Snoopy, no worse for wear and quite content!  The man said he found Snoopy at Wal-Mart and took him home and tried to track his tags but that led to some other woman (still don't understand that one!).  The man did not really match the description given by the cart boy at Wal-Mart so we still don't really know what happened there, but Brian wasn't going to push the issue.  He got Snoopy and got out of there!

An adventure indeed!

Wow - both daddy and Snoopy had quite the adventures while you were away! Never a dull moment as they say. :-) I am glad Snoopy is home safe and sound; that had to be scary!!
