So while the rest of us have been doing formal school, here are some pictures of what the two pre-K kids have been up to.
I remember at some point wondering if Lil'Bug would be able to shoot a bow and arrow as I watched the big kids run around playing with theirs. I really shouldn't have thought about it. He picked up Ladybug's bow and figured out a way to do it. He's actually a better shoot then she is!
My little blog hiatus earlier in the year caused me to skip blogging about someone's birthday.
Lil'Bug turned 5 right before the end of the year! Don't ask me how he is 5 already, but he is! Since his birthday is so close to major holidays we decided to wait for his party until a few weeks into January. Waiting was hard on the little guy, but basically having 3 rounds of presents (birthday, Christmas, birthday party) made up for it. He asked for a " 'tuga cake" (Tortuga HQ) from the Wild Kratts show. The party was a movie party featuring one of his favorite flicks The LEGO Movie on a large screen. It was a big hit. :)
February saw the celebration of our first year with Little Miss Thing, AKA Dragonfly.
This baby girl has come a long, long way in that year! She is sweet and sassy and spunky and smart. She has most people completely wrapped around her little finger. Truly she has been a great addition to our family! I promise to write a more detailed update on her soon.
In March we celebrated 6 years with this young lady....
Ladybug is still our funny, silly, crazy DRAMA girl. But recent months have shown development in her strong leadership skills, her thoughtful kindness, and her servant heart. We are indeed blessed to have her in our family.
The problem with not blogging for a few months is that I still have things I meant to blog about, and they feel like they are hanging around over my head. So I thought I would throw them altogether in one or two long posts. So to tie up some loose ends....
In November, we celebrated Butterfly's family day by going to our local Children's museum. The kids had a ton of fun. It was Dragonfly's first time there. She did enjoy herself a lot.
The last picture cracks me up because it was taken as we were leaving. Daddy and the older kids were all in the huge kaleidoscope. Miss Dragonfly was ready for her nap and was NOT impressed. :)
November also saw Ladybug's 7th birthday and her party. She wanted a swimming party so that is what she got. :) This was extra special because while Butterfly and Cricket always have water parties with their summer birthday, Ladybug has never had something like this. It was a big hit and nice not to have to clean the house for me. :) She asked for a "Frozen" cake. Not my favorite cake I've done, but she was very happy.
We recently brought the play kitchen up from the basement and but it in the livingroom so Dragonfly could play with it whenever she wants. All the kids got into playing restaurant again. Cricket and Dragonfly cooked and Ladybug was waiting tables. Lil' Bug was the one customer.
The younger kids were having a tea party hosted by Ladybug the other day. It was so cute. The three of them all sitting on the floor while Ladybug pretended to pour tea from her little China tea set.
Then they had a toast. "A toast to Jesus!! LONG LIVE KING JESUS!!!"
I love them.
