Adventures in My Father's World: Weeks 26 & 27

by Dani

In Bible we were learning about Jesus as the Servant.  We talked about serving Jesus by serving others as he did, especially those who can not "pay us back".

In science we learned about solids, liquids and gases and talked about how materials change their forms. We did an experiment with a liquid (vinegar) and a solid (baking soda) turning in to a gas. The kids did think it was fun but this "reaction" was staged. LOL

In history, we learned about Santa Fe, Oregon, and California trails. Since we had already finished our read-aloud On the Banks of Plum Creek, I read Josephina Saves the Day which talks about Santa Fe and the Santa Fe trail. We learned about three more states: California, Minnesota, and Oregon. We finished up the 2 weeks by learning about young Abraham Lincoln.

In music, we continued learning about Tchaikovsky's music and started a study of Sleeping Beauty. We also listen to and studied Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean.

I didn't take many pictures but here are a few of the older children's handwriting.
