Homeschool Co-op Fall 2013

by Dani

As I mentioned in my fall activities post, we've been going to our local homeschool co-op every Friday for the past 10 weeks. We all really enjoy co-op although it does wear on me (especially since I was just crazy enough to teach two classes!)

Lil' Bug attends 3 preschool classes for 2-3 yr olds including Letter of the Week, Paper Crafts, and a Storytime. Ladybug has a Kindergarten Storytime, Math Your Way, and is in a Beginning Spanish class. Cricket is also in Beginning Spanish and he gets an extra dose of science with a Magic School Bus class. He is also getting some American History review with a Liberty's Kids class. Butterfly gets a double does of science with both Magic School Bus and Chemistry for Every Kid. She is also in Cinderella Around the World, a literature based class exploring other countries/cultures using the Cinderella stories.

After lunch the younger two children are in play groups, but the older two have club time. This is Cricket's FAVORITE thing about co-op. He is in Lego club and LOVES to build with his legos. This year he won first place in his age group in the lego building contest! He was so stoked because his prize was an neat lego kit! He went right to work building it. (The boy is a machine!)

Butterfly also really enjoys her quilting class during club time. She learned how to hand sew with simple stitches and helped piece together a group quilt that will be donated to charity. Then in the last half of the class, she was able to make her own 9 patch quilt! I taught her how to use the sewing machine to do some of the bigger piecing jobs and she really enjoyed that.
