Homeschool 2012-13 Plan

by Dani

Because I always love to know what others are doing, I thought I would share our plans for next year. If you don't care about homeschooling at all... well, just skip this post. :)

The core of our curriculum will once again be My Father's World. We will be using Adventures in My Father's World with is designed for 2-3 graders who are the oldest in their family. This will be Bible, history, science, and literature. Butterfly and Cricket will both do this stuff together although Cricket will not be required to do all the writing. Here are most of the books for the Bible and history provided by MFW.

Transient

Here are some of the books I have collected to farther our study. We will use the library for additional books especially for the "book basket". I also bought some e-books from Scholastic including this one and this one.

Transient

For science we will use these books provided by MFW for Adventures, plus I plan to use Apologia, Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day. I don't know how much of the Apologia we will use but I love these curriculum and want to try to fit it in.

Transient

Here is the art curriculum I plan to use plus a few books. The main book is actually recommended for MFW 1st but we didn't get to it last year.

Transient

I plan to continue with Singapore math for Butterfly. For Cricket I'm planning to do the recommended and included in 1st grade math for the first half of the year then start him in Singapore Math 1A after Christmas.

Transient

Language Arts for Butterfly will include Spelling by Sound and Structure and Primary Language Lessons per MFW's suggestion.

Transient

Cricket will do the phonics from MFW 1st grade which is also where he will get his writing practice.

I also plan to start a Foreign Language this year for all the kids. We will use Hooked on Spanish and the Salsa videos just to give the kids some exposure. I also found these GREAT lesson plans to go along with the Salsa videos.

So there you have it... The Plan.. subject to adjustment as we go of course! :)
